                           PART 1-DESCRIPTIVE

    30. Windscreen de-icing and de-misting

    (a) A de-icing spray on to the windscreen centre panel is sup-
plied from a four-pint tank in the nose and controlled by
a handpump (82) on the front cockpit floor, to the right of
the seat. The pump incorporates a flow control.

    (b) Post-Mod. 1413 the centre and starboard windscreen
panels are electrically heated to prevent misting up. The
controlling switch (75) is on the starboard wall of the front
         cockpit.

    31. Windscreen wiper

         Mod. 1862 introduces a hydraulically-operated windscreen
wiper. The control is on the port wall of the front cockpit,
in the place normally occupied by the camera footage indi-
cator (5); it is marked RUN-OFF-PARK. When not in use
in the air the control should be left at PARK.

    32. Direct-vision panels

There are two direct-vision panels, one in the windscreen
port side panel and the other in the port side of the hood
in the rear cockpit. Each panel is opened by unscrewing
the appropriate handwheel ((13) front cockpit); the panel
is then swung inwards until the handwheel is engaged by
         the latch.

    33. Oxygen system

    (a) Oxygen is carried in four bottles on the port side of the
rear cockpit. In each cockpit the high-pressure supply is
taken to a regulator (47)(109), on the starboard side of the
instrument panel, which allows selection of NORMAL,
HIGH or EMERGENCY flow. The oxygen tube (84)
         (127) and socket are to starboard of each seat. There is a
line valve on the inter-cockpit decking which should be
         wire-locked in the ON position.

    (b) Pre-Mod. 1239, the regulators are Mk. 11C. Post-Mod.
1239, the regulator in the front cockpit is a Mk. 11D and
that in the rear a Mk. 11E. In this case, the supply to the
rear regulator is taken from the front regulator.
