				PART I-DESCRIPTIVE

	   (iii)Generator control
	        (a) A three-position switch (82) on the right forward
console, controls the operation of the generator. The
switch is guarded in the ON position and is spring-
loaded from RESET to OFF. The reset position is
used in the event of generator failure, see para.78.

	        (b) With engine r.p.m. above 45 per cent., the voltmeter
readings shown on the voltmeter (36) should be
	            approximately 28 volts.

	        (c) The generator power failure warning light (35) on
the lower left-hand side of the instrument panel
indicates any time the generator is inoperative
(except when the external power supply is plugged
in). At the same time, the equipment in the third
column of sub-para. (ii) ceases to function.

(iv)Battery control and external power supply
	        (a) The three-position battery-starter switch (80) is on the
right forward console. The STARTER position is
spring-loaded back to OFF, which is a maintained
position, as is the BATTERY position. When the
switch is held at STARTER the starter is actuated
(see para. 13). With the switch at BATTERY, the
battery will supply the services in the second column
of the table in (ii) above in the absence of any other
power source. When the switch is OFF battery
power is supplied only to those services in column
	            one of the table.

	        (b) Two external plugs, No. 1 and No. 2, are located on
the port side of the fuselage. An external power
supply must be connected to No. 1 to make power
available to all services. If No. 2 only is connected
power is not supplied to the services in the third
column of the table in (ii). For starting the engine,
external power must be applied to both No. 1 and
	            No. 2 plugs.

	    (v) Circuit-breakers and fuses
Most of the D.C. circuits are protected by push-to-reset
circuit breakers or circuit-breaker switches. Panels
mounting the circuit-breakers are located on each side
of the cockpit (see Figs. 7 and 8 in Part VI) and in the
nose compartment. Most A.C. circuits are protected by
fuses which are not replaceable in flight.

	    (vi)Control of A.C. supply
	        (a) The single-phase inverter supplies A.C. to the gun-
sight, IFF, the fuel flowmeter and the cockpit air
