		           PART III - HANDLING

full, drop tanks are carried but the recovery may take
up to 2½ turns. If by this time the aircraft has not
recovered, the tanks should be jettisoned to assist
            recovery.

       66. Aerobatics

       (i) The following speeds are recommended
              Slow roll ...	...	...	...250 knots
              Loop ...	...	...	...	...350 knots
Roll off the top ...	...	...350 knots
              Climbing roll ... ...	...	...400 knots plus
(ii) Aerobatics may be carried out at the same speeds with
full or empty drop tanks in position.
(iii)When looping, the stick force at the commencement is
light even at 4G loading. As the speed falls off, the
stick force increases with rearward movement of the con-
trol column until a considerable pull is needed as the air-
craft flies through the loop at about 150 knots.

       67. Checks before landing

Reduce the speed to not more than 185 knots and
            check:-
Brakes Off. Pump the brake pedals
            			      and check that resistance
            			      is felt
            Air brakes OUT
Undercarriage Select down. Check on the
            			      indicator, warning light
           			      and horn
            Flaps As required. Selector
            			      neutral
            Fuel Emergency system OFF
            			      Contents
            Harness Tight and locked

       68. Approach and landing

       (i) The recommended circuit speed is 160 knots. Turn onto
the final approach at 150 knots using flap as necessary
and aiming to lower full flap as soon as possible on the
final approach. Thereafter reduce speed progressively
and cross the airfield boundary at the speeds quoted
            below.
A.L.2 | At 12,000 lb. (clean aircraft with full
Para. 68(i) | ammunition and approx. 500 lb. fuel) 120 knots

            | ammunition and approx. 2,500 lb. fuel) 125 knots
