fuel capacity in lb. A densitometer switch (84) on the
right console has two positions IN and OUT. With this
switch IN, the fuel gauge reading is corrected for any
variations in the density of the fuel used. With the switch
at OUT the gauge indicates the fuel quantity as deter-
mined by volume. This condition is used when a
standard indication of quantity, such as a full condition
after refuelling, is required. No gauge is provided for the
drop tanks.
(ii) A fuel pressure gauge (22), mounted at the top right of
the instrument panel, records the output pressure from
the H.P. pump.
8. Fuel flowmeter
A fuel flowmeter (27) mounted on the right of the instru-
ment panel shows the rate of fuel flow in lb./hr. and in-
cludes a totalizer which indicates the number of lb. of
fuel remaining. The totalizer is preset before take-off,
by means of a knob on the flowmeter. In flight the
totalizer reading may differ from the contents gauge as
the dial is not compensated for differences in specific
gravity of the fuel.
9. Oil system
The tank holding 2.9 Imp. galls. of oil is located at the
forward right side of the engine and the oil pressure
gauge (18) is at the top of the instrument panel.
ENGINE CONTROLS
10. Throttle control
The throttle lever (62) is in a quadrant on the cockpit
port wall with a friction damper (61) on the side of the
quadrant. A stop is provided on the quadrant between
the IDLE and OFF positions to prevent shutting off the
fuel supply inadvertently when closing the throttle to
IDLE. Outboard movement of the lever (which is spring-
loaded inboard) allows the stop to be by-passed when
starting or stopping the engine. When the engine master
switch is ON, initial outboard movement of the lever
from OFF energizes the booster pumps and the ignition
system; subsequent movement of the lever to IDLE opens
the H.P. cock. Further movement of the lever increases
