port tank; when set to EXTERNAL high volatility fuel
can be drawn through the external connection on the
port side of the fuselage.
5. Oil system
A tank with a capacity of 4½ gallons of oil and 2 gallons
air space, is mounted in the leading edge of the port outer
plane, and the cooler is just inboard of it. An air outlet
shutter in the outer plane skin at the rear of the cooler
may be closed by the ground crew to assist in warming up.
6. Oil dilution
The switch for the oil dilution system is on the left-hand
side of the instrument panel, and is the right-hand one of
the two switches marked (9) in fig. 1. On some aircraft
the switch is a pushbutton, and on others it is a spring-
loaded two-poition toggle switch.

7. Electrical system
(i) An engine-driven generator charges two batteries which
are behind the right-hand seat, and provide power at
24 volts for the operation of:-
Air intake and outside air thermometers.
Engine fire warning light.
Engine starting.
Flaps indicator.
Fuel booster pumps.
Fuel contents gauges.
Oil dilution valve.
Oil temperature gauge.
Pressure-head heater.
Radio.
Usual external and internal lighting.
If required, two additional batteries can be carried be-
hind the left-hand seat and are controlled by an ON-OFF
switch on the left-hand side of the crash pylon.
(ii) A generator warning light (23) is mounted on the right
of the main instrument panel (11) and indicates when the
generator is not working.
