ENGINE FAILURE IN | ENGINE FIRE
FLIGHT | Close throttle immediately, then:-
| H.P. cock OFF
(a) Mechanical failure | L.P. cock Off
H.P. cock OFF | L.P. pump Off
L.P. cock Off | Airspeed Minimum
L.P. pump Off | Press extinguisher button. If fire persists,
Balance cock As required | abandon aircraft.
Do not attempt to relight |_______________________________________________
(b) Flame-out | HOOD JETTISONING
H.P. cock OFF | Airspeed Minimum
Relight as in (c) below. | Seat Fully lowered
| Gunsight Lowered
(c) Relighting | Harness Tight and locked
(i) Derwent Mk. 8 | Helmet Strap fastened and tight
Altitude Below 15,000 ft. | Head Forward and down
Airspeed To give 1,000-1,200 | Pull jettison handle in either cockpit.

L.P. pump On | EMERGENCY
Throttle 1/3 open | (a) Hydraulic pump failure
H.P. cock OFF | Select down and use handpump.
Press relight button and,after 5 secs.,set| (b) Selector lever jammed
H.P. cock on. When r.p.m. reach 2,000, | Throttle back starboard emgine, reduce
release relight button and close throttle | speed and operate airbrakes or flaps until
fully. When engine running satisfactorily,| selector is free.
open up to desired rpm. If engine fails to| (c) Ground-locking with U/C up

R.p.m. Steady | Helmet Strap fastened and tight
Open H.P. cock, press and hold in relight| Hood Jettison
button until r.p.m. rise (or for up to | Lead Disconnect and stow
30 secs.). When engine running normally, | Harness Released
open to desired r.p.m. If engine fails to| Airbrakes IN
relight, allow 1 minute to elapse before | Abandon aircraft by diving over inboard
