Some Favoured "Watering Holes" or Gaststätten/Tanzlokale in and around Jever Today - 2.
In the centre of the picture as seen from the Railway Station - the Deutsches Haus. The dance held here every Saturday was always well frequented by the single population of the station. [Click to see Jade Basin 5 playing there.] Here one notices that a dance in Germany usually included tables and chairs with waiter service, unlike the usual 'local hops' we were used to in the UK in those days The building on the left in our day was the Bahnhof Hotel. I can remember that the 'Mockturtle Soup' was quite good here. It is now privately used. (Thanks to Maurice Parker) |
