A SG 38 Glider (D-6113) of the civilian Jever Gliding Club about to take off from the station - 1957. Production of the SG38 started in 1938 and in the following years must have been the most used single-seat training glider in Europe. This glider was launched by using a strong rubber rope or later with the aid of a winch. For safety reasons all pupils were instructed never to fly over the forest but always to remain within the boundary of the airfield. (Thanks to Maurice Parker) |
