A New Era at Jever
Air Base Services Wing is formed.
It is henceforth a unit of the Luftwaffe Maintenance Regiment 2 in Diepholz.
UPJEVER/HBU - A new era started at Jever yesterday. Yesterday morning within the setting of a military
parade and after months of build up, the Air Base Services Wing Jever commenced operational duties.
The Regiment's CO Gerhard Hewera handed over command of the new unit to Oberstleutenant Jürgen Nappert.
Since March 1994 he was CO of the Maintenance and Electronic Flight with the Fighter/Bomber Squadron 38
and has taken many of his previous subordinates with him to his new post. The Air Base Services Wing has a
strength of 101 military ranks and 155 civilians who have been 90% recruited from the Friesland Squadron
which was disbanded 2 days ago.
The new Air Base Services Wing comes under the Luftwaffe Maintenance Regiment 2. At Jever it has a wide
range of duties to perform, from guaranteeing flight operations on the military air base to the provision of the
complete logistics for the Luftwaffe Regiment, Maintenance Unit 2 and all other units on the base.
