1. The majority of the flying this month was used for concentrating on cine and pre-
Sylt training. A Meteor 8 was borrowed from Sylt to tow a flag for the last week of
the month and a few of the pilots were fortunate enough to fly it.
2. Flight Lieutenant P. J. Retief and Flight Lieutenant M. A. Kelly spent a pleasant
night at Karup on Exercise Northern Light. Unfortunately due to poor aircraft
unserviceability at base they could not go any further North and had to return early the
following morning.
3. The Squadron Commander, Squadron Leader R. S. Mortley was posted during the month
and also promoted. A Squadron party was organised in Jever to coincide with his
leaving to give the airmen a chance to say goodbye. He was replaced by Squadron Leader
C.A. Wade, who is an old 2 Squadron member, being a pilot on the Squadron in 1945.
4. Flight Lieutenant F. C. Murray was also posted during the month of April and
another pilot, Flight Lieutenant B. St. Aubyn joined the Squadron from Chivenor.
