Dick Endecott in the VW Kombi - Jun54. For about the first year of my stay in Jever the vehicle we used as our run-around to reach the outstations was a 30 cwt Bedford. I think it was eventually written off as being beyond the limit of effective maintenance and was relegated to a firing range where a pilot told me he had probably put it out of its misery. The consolation, however was a brand new VW Kombi (now called a 'camper' and still very much in evidence on the roads today). (Thanks to Dick Endecott) |
