                           AIR-TO-GROUND TRAINING.

                               BRIEFING GUIDE.

1.    Safety Height Run.

     (a)  R/T Mission 0 1 A safety ht. run in 30 seconds.

     (b)  Check target area is clear.

     (c)  Visually familiarise 300 ft. above ground.

2.   Downwind Lag.

     (a)  Gunsight "FIXED" or "GYRO" as required.

3.   Base Leg.

     (a)  Check position of other aircraft in pattern.

4.   Pattern

     (a)  Turn in from 3000 feet and. 300 kts, level initially. R/T call.

     (b)  Safety cover UP.

     (c)  Firing 600 - 500 yds. s/range.

     (d)  Pull out, wings level (N.B. 300')

     (e)  Safety cover DOWN.

     (f)  Re-position downwind.

5.   Sighting.

     (a)  During turn in guide sight towards target line.

     (b)  Roll out with fixed cross 3 to 4 tgt. widths below target.

     (c)  Control cross up on to target.

     (d)  Fire with steady aim (Fixed Cross fills 15 ft. tgt. at 575 yds.)

In crosswind conditions roll the sight out upwind of the target and allow wind
to drift the cross. Hold the cross in the wind predicted position with bank
and fire.

Using the Gyro Pipper.

     (a)  Set 450 yds. on range drum.

     (b)  Roll pipper out below tgt.
     
     (c)  Funnel pipper up to target.

     (d)  Allow approximately 2 seconds track time.
