(iv) The inside of the windscreen may be de-misted by turn-
ing the air inlet (39) to DEFROST and shutting the two
side-wall inlets (see para. 37(ii))
40. Hood defrosting
Both sides of the hood can be defrosted by use of the
ON/OFF lever (45) on the cockpit port side marked
AUXILIARY CANOPY DEFROST. When set to ON
warm air is directed from the compressor to perforated
tubes above each console panel.
41. Fuel filter de-icing
Warning of the presence of ice in the fuel filter is given
by the amber light (8) on the cockpit port coaming
coming on. De-icing is accomplished by pressing the
adjacent de-icer pushbutton (7) until the light goes out.
This sprays alcohol into the filter; the alcohol supply will
last for one minute of operation, and is best used
15 seconds at a time.
42. Pressure head heater

A.L.1 The pressure head heater is controlled by a^switch (52)
on the left forward console.
COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT
43. VHF-Command radio
An eight-channel VHF set, type AN/ARC3, is fitted and
the control panel (87) containing a channel selector
rotary switch, an ON/OFF switch and a volume control
is on the right console.
44. Radio compass
(i) An AN/ARN-6 radio compass is installed. The receiver
is in the radio compartment aft of the cockpit, the
compass loop is in the back of the hood and the sense
aerials are attached inside the top portion of the hood.
(ii) The compass indicator (6) is on the instrument panel
and the control panel (88) is on the right console.
45. IFF
An AN/APX-6 radar set is installed and the control panel
(92) is on the right console.
