                           PART 1II-HANDLING

    71. Crosswind landingh

The crab technique should be used for crosswind
landings. Use the normal threshold speeds. Kick off the
drift and place the aircraft firmly on the ground. Some
differential braking may be required to keep straight.

    72. Checks after landing

         Brakes Pressure sufficient for taxy-
         			  ing (200 lb./sq.in. min. in
         			  system).
         Flaps Up
         Pressure-head heater	Off
         Windscreen heaters	Off
         Oxygen Off

    73. Shut-down procedure

    (a) Stop the engines by turning off the H.P. cocks.

    (b) After the engines have stopped, check:-

         L.P. pumps Off
         Balance cock Up
         Compass Off
         V.H.F. Off
         Chocks In position
         Brakes Off
         Ground/flight switch	GROUND

N.B.-It is important to ensure that the engines have
stopped turning before putting the ground/
flight switch to GROUND; if this is not done the
              j.p.t. gauges may be damaged.

    ASYMMETRIC FLYING

NOTE:-It must be remembered that the hydraulic pump
is on the starboard engine. All the hydraulic ser-
vices may be operated normally if the starboard
engine is running but, if it is stopped, the hydrau-
lic accumulator only provides sufficient pressure
to lower the undercarriage and flaps fully and to
operate the airbrakes open and closed once.
