DESCRIPTIVE
NOTE.-Throughout this publication the following conven-
tions apply:-
(a) Words in capital letters indicate the actual mark-
ings on the controls concerned.
(b) The numbers quoted in brackets after items in the
text refer to the illustrations in Part VI.
(c) Unless otherwise stated all airspeeds and Mach
numbers quoted are "Indicated".
INTRODUCTION
(a) The Meteor Mk.7 is a two-seat, jet-propelled, trainer
aircraft, powered by two Derwent Mk. 8 or Mk. 9 engines.
In the latter engines, the priming pumps and torch igniters
are replaced by high energy igniter units, which permit
relighting at higher altitudes and greater forward speeds.
The engines may have either large or small intakes fitted..
(b) The aircraft is unarmed but may be fitted with a gyro-
gunsight and camera. The cockpit is unpressurised. Long-
range fuel tanks can be fitted, giving a maximum range at
altitude of approximately 780 nautical miles.
(c) The principal aircraft dimensions are as follows:-
