93 Sqn Linebook No. 2 - Page 68 Sometime after 5Aug58 - "Facts That Ought To Be Brought To The Public's Attention..."   "Which sister will he chose?"   "Three on Joe's 'wanted' list".   "The Demon Lover."   "Parker sighs for the stars."   "In Love With His Nurse"   "I realised I was in love, but I couldn't tell her because of my helpless position," he said.   "I knew what a burden I'd be.   But I grew steadily stronger and my love could not be hidden forever.   Before I knew what had happened we became engaged.   None of our relatives thought it was wise.   How wrong they have been proved."   There is this constant delight of two wonderful looking human beings hopelessly and savagely involved..."   "I am one of those people whose innocence has not yet been put to the test".   "But I tell you - I'm just a family man at heart."   I bet Joe found this very helpful in his courting days - but he eventually happily married Margaret his PMRAFNS nurse!   There was quite a stir when the traditionally all-male Officers' Mess had to admit females when the PMRAFNS nurses were posted to RAF Jever to form a maternity unit.   The previously nearest service hospital at RAF Wegberg closed and the maternity unit on the base was necessary as the next hospital was too far away to be used for births to service wives.   Half the mess members objected to the presence of females in their mess and the other half - mainly the squadron pilots - were delighted and made them very welcome!   The senior nurse Flight Officer Joy Harris went on to become Matron-in-Chief of the PMRAFNS.   (Thanks to RAF Museum.)
