MANSTON 8/4/27 11.00 Squadron received orders to proceed to CHINA.   To sail 20/4/27
from SOUTHAMPTON.   Squadron begun to be brought
up to war Establishment, and packing was started.
 
  9/4/27   Five aeroplanes flown to FARNBOROUGH for packing at ASCOT.
Pilots- F/Lt Mc.Bain, P/O MUMFORD-MATHEWS, P/O F.G.S. WILSON, F/O MAC-
EVOY and P/O STOKES.   P/O M. MATHEWS stayed to superin-
tend the packing;   the remainder were flown back by
No. 9 Squadron (Virginia).
Flt/Lieut. LOCK and F/O TIGHE posted to No. 2 Sqdn. from No. 13 Sqdn.
 
  10/4/27   Flt. Lieut. MACBAIN, P/O F.G.S. WILSON, P/O E.L. WILSON and F/O HADDEN took
the remainder of the serviceable aeroplanes to FARNBOROUGH.
 
  11/4/27   Flt. Lieut. LOCK arrived.          Orders were received to leave
BIRCHINGTON at 04.30 on 20/4/'27,   embarking on N.T. NEURALIA at
SOUTHAMPTON on the same day.          Packing all day.
 
  12/4/27   Packing all day.  
  13/4/27   Packing all day.          Wing. Com. PRIMROSE,   Director of equip-
meant, A.M.,    visited Squadron.          4 Crossley Tenders and
3 trailers arrived to take Flight Stores to BIRKENHEAD.
Transport & Stores to be loaded on to S.S. SARPEDON on 23rd
from BIRKENHEAD.   Ammunition on City CITY of POONA on 21st.
 
MANSTON 12/4/27   Flt. Lieut. LOCK went to AIR MINISTRY to collect Maps of
CHINA.          A new Grid System is employed.
 
" 14/4/27   Packing all day.   Men fitted with Tropical Kit.  
" 16/4/27 08.30 Transport Convoy..   4 Lorries, 4 Tenders and 3 Trail-
ers left for BIRKENHEAD, accompanied by F/O
ALDERSON & P/O STOKES.
 
" 20/4/27 02.15 Squadron marched to BIRCHINGTON.  
BIRCHINGTON " 04.50 Train left with Squadron for SOUTHAMPTON..  
SOUTHAMPTON " 10.30 Squadron arrived, and was inspected by A.V.M.
LONGCROFT
 
MALTA 27/4/27   Squadron arrived.  
PORT SAID 30/4/27            "              "         Squadron carried out a Route March
accompanied by F/O s WADDEN & BETT and by F/LT.
