8. If you slide to the six o'clock position attacking a pair - watch it.
9. If the attacked pair are working well together they will get lateral
separation, and present you with a problem.
10. Keep your pair together - they will eventually try and turn to sandwich
you. Switch and take the last aircraft.
11. If they split high/low - take the high man.
Two versus Four.
1. Attack the high or trailing pair.
2. Beware the sandwich.
3. Get one pair evading, and switch to trailing pair.
4. Principals are difficult, and much will depend on initial sighting,
and, more important on standards of training.
5. The four should deal with a pair, but a well led pair can get in quickly,
cause confusion, get a kill, and pull out.
Separating Four.
1. Mutual support.
2. Don't commit too early - don't panic.
3. Don't over control one committed - get on with it.
4. The pairs leader who sees must talk - No question of handing over the
lead.
Some Principals of Offence.
1. The Pair is the most effective fighting unit.
2. The Four is the most effective team to take into battle.
3. When in doubt in combat trade airspeed for altitude.
4. Never stay with another a/c after you are unable to track him with
your sight - pull up and, stay behind.
5. If by using airbrakes or flap you can assume the radius of turn of the
A/c you are attacking - do so, end get your kill.
6. Fly at high Mach. No.
7. Maintain good look out - you must see the enemy to shoot him down.
8. Keep the A/C you are attacking, in sight.
9. If a pair is disengaged, they must talk, and clear the engaged pair -
very comforting.
10. If you have an enemy a/c in front, assume you may have one behind.
