OPERATIONS
Exercise 'Royal Flush' was held this year at Spangdahlen in the American zone.
2nd. A.T.A.F. was represented in the low level role by Flight Lieutenant J.R. Green
and M.O. Bergh A.F.C. from No. 2 Squadron and Flight Lieutenant N. Walpole from No.
79 Squadron. Although the French Air Force secured first and second places in the
low level competition, 2nd. T.A.F. won the low level and high level events giving
them the Gruenther Trophy. Flight Lieutenant J.R. Green was placed third out of
eight in the final position.
The Squadron was again visited by the Royal Danish Air Force. The detachment
was unfortunately marred by a fatal accident occurring on the flight from
Karup to Jever. However after the first day the detachment went very well, and the
training with the Squadron was a great help to the Danish pilots.
Another new pilot, Flight Lieutenant M. Dale, was posted onto the Squadron during
the month. He arrived from O.C.U. at Chivenor after completing a ground tour
on the selection board at Royal Air Force Hornchurch.
