Standard Operational Procedures for
No. 122 Wing RAF Jever
                                    RESTRICTED Page 4.

Circuit and Landing.

14. Visual Approach and Circuits. The initial run in points (I.Ps) for the
Jever runway are the Olympia factory for landing on 29 and Wittmund Forest
for 11. In green conditions pilots should be at 1700 feet over the I.Ps. to
avoid practice G.C.As. During the run in to the airfield on the dead side of
the G.C.A. approach and runway, they should lose height down to 1000 feet
before breaking into the downwind leg. The break should be made so that the
downwind leg is flown above 1200 feet A.G.L.

15. Landing Run. The runway at Jever is 2900 yards, with barriers at both
ends. To save tyro and brake wear, pilots of all aircraft are to use the
whole runway and not turn off short. In the event of brake failure during a
landing run, they should transmit that a barrier engagement is likely and
steer the aircraft for the centre of the barrier and keep their heads well
down on penetrating it. If a tyre bursts during a landing run, pilots should
make every effort to steer their aircraft to the edge or off the runway on
to a suitable hard standing, rather than switch off in the centre and thereby
cause an obstruction for subsequent aircraft.
