Video showing G009 clip from Ron Gray's film. This clip was taken from the rear ramp of a USAF C-117. Dave Clayton was flying as co-pilot and Ron filmed this sitting between the tri-pod legs of the Movietone film crew. This is the Private Venture, single-seat, proto-type Folland Gnat. It first flew on 18Jul55. Six similar aircraft were built and evaluated by the RAF for the fighter role, but this variant was not adopted.
