I write to confirm that the second Saturday in the New Year really does fall on 12th January, 2002. Accordingly the AGM has been booked at the "Clachan" starting at 1800 hrs with a close of play at 2300 hrs. As previously, the pub will be exclusive to us as a private function and a very respectable selection of pub food will be served throughout the evening. If you haven't been there yet can I urge you to give it a go. A large number of people considered it to be the best venue/food that we have had for some time. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Last year's (13 Jan 01) function went very well with some 35 persons attending including Bugs Bendell by courtesy of a "DIY Stannah stair lift" into the downstairs bar. Bugs, if you can face it, the same facility will be available to you if you can manage it this year. The annual address was given by Mr.President (our Ken) who was, as always, in fine fettle. He did, however, complain of creaking knees as he stood teetering on a bar stool long term negative 'G'. The Golden Share Award went to Ian Craig for his unstinting attendances over the years and also for his unerring ability to appear full facial in nearly all the early-day photos that we have.

Contacts remain as below:

Ken Goodwin Auldcroft, Plud Street, Wedmore, Somerset BS28 4BE Tel: 01934 712228

Jeff Jeffrey 2 Hawkes End, Brampton, Huntingdon, Cambs.PE28 4TW.

Sad to relate that during the year news has filtered through that Phil Spooner, after a lengthy illness, died in July. Phil and Sue have been regular attenders over the years - Phil was a most amiable pongo and clearly one who enjoyed the "light blue" company - let me quote him from the attendance register "Lovely nosh, beautiful beer. Super evening, God bless the Junior Service and all at Jeevers".

Finally may I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I look forward to seeing you at Steaming time 1800 hrs. For those not able to make it this time - the next time will be 11 Jan 03 - hopefully the same place (TBC) - look forward to seeing you there.

T M J

P.S. Please complete the attached form and return it to me - thank you.

P.P.S. Our thanks, as always, to Peter Baines and his staff at the RR Enthusiasts Club for such an excellent photocopying and postage service. Very many thanks, Peter.

My apologies to anyone whose name has been overlooked, it probably means you were either unable to/incapable of signing in the "Warning In" book. Left it late again - I know the feeling. The headcount at one stage certainly indicated more than those in the book.
