1957
- A group of RDAF FR/PR Flight and RAF No 2 Sqn personnel in front of one of a Supermarine Swift FR.5. The picture was taken by the RDAF Karup photo section during a squadron rotation at RDAF Karup on 14Jul57. Extreme right front row is Jim Hugill - identified thanks to his daughter Alison. Anyone able to supply more names? This would have been a detachment from RAF Geilenkirchen, 5 months before 2 Sqn moved up to RAF Jever. The photo was very kindly sent to us by Col. Steen. H. Hartov, DCOS P&P, HQ TACDEN of the Royal Danish Air Force.

- Visiting Dakotas supporting a Danish F-84F Squadron visit, parked on 2 Sqn pan. Mervyn points out that the Swift behind has an auxiliary hydraulic rig connected and air bottles. As an ex-airframe mechanic, he says this probably means that there is a problem with either the Swift's flaps (e.g. flap creep), or flying controls requiring investigation and that functioning checks are taking place.
- Group in front of visiting Dakotas supporting a Danish F-84F Squadron visit, parked on 2 Sqn pan. Mervyn says that he remembers that the corporal on the left was radio/radar but cannot remember any names. Anyone able to help?

- His son Peter sent in this photo of his father Maurice and Patricia Dale with other RAF colleagues/wifes. He wondered if this may have been taken whilst he was a Jever or at Sylt as the tankard he is holding he thinks was from either of those two places. Lt o R: Unknown Unknown, Patricia Dale, Unknown, Unknown Lady, Unknown, Unknown and Maurice Dale. Does anyone recognise the people, the place or the tankard? Phil Holden-Rushworth says: "I do not recognise any of the officers in the photo. However, I can say that it would certainly not be taken at Sylt while he was on II (AC) Squadron because the boss, Sqn Ldr Chris Wade, forbade the officers to take their wives with them to Sylt! In addition, I think Maurice looks rather younger than when I knew him in the early 60's."

- Ooops! 2 Sqn Swift X XD950 on the grass. Merv believes that this was either Flt Lt Taff Wallis or Flt Lt Bengy Hives and was the result of landing with "Brake Boost" accidentally selected. Unknown damage. Believed to be incident reported in 4 Sqn F540 for 29Apr59.

- Supermarine Swift FR.5 of 2 Sqn - Jever 11May59. 1st a/c left is WK300. It arrived on 2 Sqn on Tue 3 Feb 1959 and was struck off charge back to MOD on Wed 18 Jan 1961. The next a/c along is XD973 which arrived on 2 Sqn on Fri 7 Nov 1958 and was sent to 60 MU on Wed 8 Feb 1961.

- Railway in the airfield woods. This was used to bring in fuel supplies and also to carry leased trains from Bundesbahn which were loaded with Squadron heavy equipment for detachments such as Sylt. The railway ran round to the South side of the airfield so that loading could take place directly from the Squadron Hangers - about 1960.
